Closing Submissions

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

Since opening Stirling Publishing to unsolicited queries, we have been inundated with submissions for novels, novellas, and poetry collections -- and we've loved reading each and every one of them. Hopefully by now you have had a response, but if you haven't you should receive one within a couple of days.

In addition to considering some outstanding manuscripts for publication next year, we have also been longlisting our short story competition, and this week we launched our #ColourofMadness campaign, a patchwork anthology that charters the experience of black and minority ethnic people with mental health disorders. They are both ambitious projects that have attracted a lot of attention (and submissions!). Our Submittable will remain open until the 31st January 2018 for submissions to The Colour of Madness.

Having said that, we have made the decision to close our Submittable portal to unsolicited queries until 2018. This means that we will be able to devote more time to examining the full manuscripts we have requested, as well as running The Colour of Madness, whittling down our competition entries, and preparing for the publication of Lesley Glaister's amazing YA novel, Aphra's Child.

If we have requested your full manuscript, the email may have asked you to upload it via Submittable. Instead, please send it as a .docx or an equivalent to laura@stirlingpublishing.co.uk. If the manuscript is no longer available, please do let us know. If your full manuscript has already been uploaded to Submittable, don't worry: we'll download it from there.

If you have any general queries, please contact info@stirlingpublishing.co.uk. If you would like to discuss your particular submission, please email laura@stirlingpublishing.co.uk. Declined submissions will shortly be archived.

Thank you again for sharing your work with us. We know how much effort and love is poured into a manuscript, and we're grateful that you chose to submit it to us. We look forward to reading the new batches of writing in 2018.
